Configuring for Linux Installation on a Proxy, No Proxy System

If your Linux system uses a proxy server for external traffic and no proxy for local traffic, you must complete the following system configuration and Sisense configuration steps before initializing Sisense on your system.

Note:

Features that use Sisense Cloud-based services will not work behind a proxy server. See Sisense Cloud-Based Services.

  • For a single-node system: Configure the node where you plan to deploy Sisense.
  • For a multi-node system: Configure all of the nodes where you plan to deploy Sisense.

To configure the proxy settings:

  1. Log in to the Linux server and enter the following commands to add proxy environment variables to /etc/environment.

     
                          sudo bash -c 'printf -v no_proxy '%s,' {0..255} && echo
                          no_proxy="localhost,svc,node1,$no_proxy" >> /etc/environment'
                          sudo bash -c 'echo https_proxy="http://example.proxy.tld:port" >> /etc/environment'
                          sudo bash -c 'echo http_proxy="http://example.proxy.tld:port" >> /etc/environment'
                      
  2. Enter the following commands to export the proxy environment variables.

      
                          printf -v no_proxy '%s,' {0..255} && export
                          no_proxy="localhost,svc,node1,$no_proxy"
                          export http_proxy="http://example.proxy.tld:port"
                          export https_proxy="http://example.proxy.tld:port"
                      
  3. Now, you must navigate to the directory where you extracted the Sisense tar.gz file.

      
                          cd sisense-[sisense-version]
                      
  4. Edit the configuration YAML file by entering the following command.

          
                          vim {installation-folder)/config.yaml
                      
  5. Go to the PROXY SETTINGS group, remove the comment (#) tag from the parameters, and configure them. For example:

          
                          http_proxy:"http://example.proxy.tld:port"
                          https_proxy:"http://example.proxy.tld:port"

  6. Save these changes to the configuration YAML file and return to the instructions in Installing Sisense on Linux.
