Querying Using the Sisense Analytics Bot

In Teams, you can write a natural language query and interact with the bot. Results will be returned in a list format.

Natural language queries are not case sensitive. You can fill in your own jargon like “show me”, but view names, column names, and literal values must be spelled correctly.

To query the bot:

  1. Type Show Views in the input field. All views available to you are displayed:
  2. Write a query using the view name, along with any filters.

See Using Ask Me for more information about how to construct your query.

You can navigate the result set of your query.

Left/Right Arrows

Click the left/right arrows to move through each page.

Results are displayed 10 records at a time.

 Hyperlink

Click a result’s hyperlink (must be configured in the view’s column configuration) to open the linked page in a new window.

Viewing and Using Query Results

After Sisense returns the results of the query, there are a number of ways you can interact with the results. Results will be displayed natively in Teams, as opposed to a Sisense widget.

Drop-down Menu

This displays options to View Entire Record and Add/View Notes.

View Entire Record

Click the clipboard icon. The record will display 6 columns of the view in a report-like format.

 Add/View Notes

This enables notes to be saved for an individual record. These notes are visible to all users who have access to the view.

Bookmark

Click Bookmark to create a new bookmark from the query. You can bookmark a query directly from the result set. Advanced users can create an NLQ and share these with other users, who in turn can bookmark them for future use. See Using Bookmarks for more information.

Analyzing Data

The bot can analyze your data by summarizing metrics and providing a Top 10 breakdown of the different dimensions. The analysis performed is based on the following metrics:

  • The Distinct Count of the Unique Identifier as specified in the view.
    • Past Period and YoY Differential if there is a date filter defined in the query.
  • Aggregation of the Default measure as specified in the view.
    • Range of Min and Max
    • Past Period and YoY Differential if there is a date filter defined in the query.
  • Aggregation of all other measures.

To analyze data:

  1. Run a query and click Analyze Data or prefix a query with the word "analyze".
  2. Select a dimension to analyze the data further.
    Note:
Selecting a time-based dimension will display a line chart
