Where can I find the latest version of Sisense?

Can I upgrade Sisense to the latest version without losing data?

During an upgrade, all configurations are saved, unless manually altered. When working with a production environment, we recommend that you first install the new version in a test/staging environment and check all of your ElastiCubes and active dashboards. Only once you are sure that everything is working well, then install the new version in your production environment. Please make sure to back up everything prior to upgrading. Can I install Sisense on a Mac?

Sisense server and ElastiCube Manager can be installed on Windows machines, however, the Sisense web app for editors (designers) and viewers can be accessed from any HTML5-compliant browser, on any operating system.

Can I install Sisense on Linux?

Not at this time, however Sisense only needs to be installed on a centralized Windows machine to pull data from multiple data sources, and then dashboard creators and users can access the data from any HTML5-supported browser on any operating system including mobile.

What do I need to install Sisense? What are the hardware and software requirements?

How do I configure Sisense as a sub-domain with SSO (Single Sign On)?

How do I change the name of the ElastiCube?

This article explains how to change the name and/or location for an active dashboard. Use cases include:

  • You want to back up one ElastiCube and then restore it after a while under a new name.
  • You are moving your server to a different (production) machine and want to continue working on the dashboards from where you left off.
How secure is my data?

The Sisense architecture has been designed to ensure security processes are enforced while scaling to enterprise deployments of Sisense. This includes the ability to secure dashboards and data as well as implement custom security requirements that suit your organization.The Sisense security architecture is explained here.


ElastiCube Server

Can I refresh my ElastiCube with only newly added data, and not import all the data?

With Sisense you can choose from a number of methods when deciding how to refresh your data, including the option to update data only where new data has been added. This is why it is important to understand the different settings that define how data is accumulated every time you build your ElastiCube. Click here to learn more.

Can I connect data sources that do not appear in the list of available data sources in the ElastiCube Manager?

The ODBC provider allows access to a data source via an installed driver on the operating system regardless of the architecture of the data source. In Sisense, it serves as a connector to data providers that are not included in the common providers list. Click here to read more.

Can I schedule ElastiCube builds?

Yes, you can schedule automatic ElastiCube builds at predefined or customized intervals. Click here to learn more.

Should I calculate derived facts in the ElastiCube Manager or in the dashboard?

When calculating derived facts (such as Profit = Amount-Cost), it is recommended in most cases to make the calculations in the fact tables, in the ElastiCube Manager. This method saves time when retrieving data, and enforces a consistency with non-trivial facts that should be available for users across dashboards. If, however, you want to calculate facts for a specific dashboard, then do so in the dashboard. Also, if your derived facts are ratio facts (fractions), then always create the calculations on the dashboard level.



Does Sisense work on mobile devices?

Yes, the Sisense web app is built using modern web standards such as HTML5, CSS3 and responsive design that automatically optimizes viewing for tablets and smartphones. Sisense runs in any HTML5 supported browser, so no installation or native applications are required. On smartphones, widgets appear one underneath the other in a view-only scrollable list. On tablets, you get to see the same view as experienced on a desktop.

How do I combine filters using OR logic?

To use two unrelated filtering conditions on one column, you will need to create a custom filter using the advanced filter options. Example: You want to report the quantity sold for the top 3 selling categories along with the quantity sold for the produce category. To learn more, click here.

Can I add additional functionality to enhance or customize my dashboard?

Yes, you can add additional functionality using JavaScript. To learn more, click here.

How do I rebrand (white label) my dashboard?

Using the Sisense REST API, you can modify the dashboard’s visual style to match your brand or preferences. Click here to learn more.



How do I share a dashboard using a DNS (alias) instead of URL?

If you host Sisense on a server with IIS configured to use a domain name (alias), but when you publish a dashboard the IP address and/or the incorrect port is published instead, then follow the steps described here.

Can I share dashboards with unregistered users?

You cannot share dashboards directly with unregistered users.

Can I share dashboards with Active Directory users and groups in Sisense?

Yes, you can add users and groups from your Active Directory into Sisense, and then share dashboards with those users and groups. Sisense automatically synchronizes with the Active Directory to update new, removed or modified users. To learn how to set up Active Directory, click here.
