Managing Date and Time Fields

Many widgets include data that is relative to date and time fields. Sisense enables you to apply date and time filters so you can easily identify trends in your data.

When you create a widget in your dashboard that includes a date field, Sisense automatically breaks the data down by year, however, you can change this to a shorter resolution. For example, a Date field included in a widget can be separated into Years, Quarters, Months, Weeks, and Days, Hours, or 15 Minutes from your widget’s filter.

Time-Level Support

When the Introducing Analytical Engine is used for live models, time-level support for widgets can be activated to offer an extended time-level hierarchy of time slicing of the data.

This will enable the following continuous options for time-related filters:

  • Years
  • Quarters
  • Months
  • Weeks
  • Days
  • Date & Time (including Hour, and 15 Minutes)

and the following aggregated option (which ignores dates) for time-related filters:

  • Time of day (which ignores dates) for time-related filters

You can set the format of dates and times used for Date & Time by clicking the Change how dates are displayed icon.

This opens the Format Date window where you can select or specify the format you prefer.

To activate time-level support:

  1. Navigate to Admin > System Management > Configuration > click the Sisense logo five times > Base Configuration > Filters.
  2. Activate the Time level support parameter.
